There are separate ones for 7- and 13- pin versions.
For D4, there are also different ones depending on model year. I think MY13 or MY14 forward was different from the previous.

No D4 and D3 are wired differently. Plugs are the same but not compatible.
The later D4 MY spec tow electrics kit only adds a bracket, not electrically different to earlier D4.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

the towing loom is in 2 parts, an upper and lower section.
The upper is different for D3 and D4 as the D3 has a fuse block section, the D4 doesnt.
The lower is different for 7pin, 2 x 7 pin or 13 Pin.
You can use each part with each other part (if that makes sense - e.g, if you had a D3 with 13pin socket, and changed to a D4 you could keep your 13pin lower part and just source and fit the D4 uppper part to it)
