Engine swop. M57 bmw 3.0 diesel in a Disco3.
Has anyone done this. I know they put it in RRover, so I'm thinking can this unit be transplanted into a D3?

I have a 435d sitting on the driveway, with the M57 variant in it. It's the 3.0 twin turbo version and is an all round superb bit of engineering. Ultra reliable yet very powerful too. Shed loads of torque (640nm). The gearbox is great too.
As and when that car gets to a low enough value might think about having a go at the engine swap, it would make for a lovely vehicle. At the moment though it is sitting in a lovely convertible body that is great fun in the summer. 2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...
