we used to have one on an old works motor for shunting our staging trailers around, 3 box section bars connected together with flat bar and then bolted to the chassis, i cannot remember if the bumper was cut though, pretty sure it wasnt but if it was it was the very bottom of the bumper
this is the only picture i have to show you where you can just see the brackets under the front of it , even if it is cut it isnt that noticable

That's a sh it that I paid full price two years ago! Good bit of kit even at full price.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
I am also interested in this and emailed Watling a couple of days ago with a few fitting queries to which they promptly replied.
Hi there ...I have a Discovery 3, 2008, TDV6 and have been looking at your front towbar (Standard, not heavy duty). I would be fitting it myself.
I have a couple of questions which I hope you can answer.
1.
Is there any drilling of the chassis involved or does it bolt to existing holes. – It fits to existing holes, but 2 of them need to be opened out from 10mm to 12mm. I have attached the fitting instructions for your information.
2.
Does the front bumper require cutting or modification. – No, although if you have the 2 front plastic spoilers below the bumper they are best to be removed. I think only the Mk4 Disco has these though.
3.
Can the steel engine lower cover plate be removed (For oil changes etc.) with the towbar in situ. – Yes.
4.
How much approximately does the towbar bracket protrude (depth wise) when attached to the chassis. – 50mm
Obviously, much cheaper option than a Motor Mover and looks more controllable. – Yes, and to increase your options further, we can add an additional centre receiver for £30 plus VAT.
Hope this answers some of the queries that interested people may haveRelocated to Mid France from N. Wales March 2021

I'd be up for having one if a group buy could be organised.

PS I'd like a central facility instead of, or in addition to the standard.
In the email from Watling regarding my queries, they said that they could fit an additional receptacle in the centre of the tow bar for an additional £30 plus VAT. The standard towbar has an offset receptacle so you would have the best of both worlds.Relocated to Mid France from N. Wales March 2021

And another...
There are 4 more bolts as far as i can see... at both sides, for fitting you need to remove the plastic bumper..
Regarding the group buy:
So i only need a tow hook
Hello Harold, how are you?
Do you recall which is your warn front receiver? In warn website, there are different options (60268, 65150, etc) and I don't see anyone specific for disco 4.
Thanks,
Juan

Thank you sir! I'll get in touch with the warn folks to see if they explain which one will apply for the discovery 4.
