D3 high-pitched warning sound when starting to reverse.

I often hear a high- pitched warning sound(?) when starting to reverse, usually after being parked overnight. It only lasts for a few seconds and the Disco reverses normally throughout! Any ideas/ suggestions, please?

probably an error tone, that the rear parking sensors are not functioning.

Is a red light on the P> switch, on the center console also flashing when in reverse?

Thanks for the reply - but the reversing beeps are working normally and there is no indication of a fault on the dash...

Apologies, Pete; I've checked again and the 'P' reversing light is flashing! Is it likely to be one of the rear sensors or the console do you think?

Something at the rear

Read the fault codes if you can.

Probably a faulty rear parking sensor or a fault in the wiring loom to the rear sensors
Put the car in reverse whilst in neutral and put your ear up to each sensor - they should emit a ticking sound if they are working - if any one doesn’t then that sensor is faulty unless all are silent in which case it may be the loom - it tends to get damaged by the balance weights

Yep, found a dodgy sensor. Gave it a whack and a squirt of WD40 and it's now working again (at least for now!)
Many thanks for all the advice.
