D3 insurance cost in Germany ? |
|
I'm about to move to Germany and we are making a budget (roughly expenses etc)
Can someone from Germany please quote a normal price for a D3, just a ball park figure ...
We got a D3 TDV6 HSE from 2005 and plan to go 15000 Km / Year
Thanks

Insurance cost in Germany |
|
Hi there,
Insurance cost in Germany is dependent on many factors like:
no claims bonus,
how many people are using the car,
how many miles (well in Germany we do Kilometers...) you do per year,
where the car is generally stored (garage, on the road, car port),
where you want your car repaired (insurance could dictate where you have to have your car repaired in case of an accident - unless you opt out of this and pay extra (not much).
the area where the car is registered (there are some regional differences caused by the number of accidents that happen in the area).
Some advice: I have done quite a bit of moving accross Europe so I think this could apply to you as well.
Take your last insurance bills from the UK to your new insurance, ideally from a few years - this made things a lot easier. Show them how many years you had no accident. Really think if just you and your partner are using the car (this reduces the premium quite a bit).
I have ensured my car at an online insurance, the same insurance company does also operate with local offices, but this is more expensive. This was the cheapest I could find. The details are below so that you can compare:
Only my partner and me are using the car.
The car is only used privately.
Driver age minimum 25 years.
I drive 20000km per year
Car is locked up in a garage.
Free choice of workshop for accident repair.
Fully comp (I can crash the car, 500Eur deductable)
Glass, animal, theft coverage with a deductable of 150Eur.
Unlimited third party liability coverage.
22 years no claims (I pay 30% of the standard tarif)
Total annual fee 550 Eur (260Eur for third party (mandatory), 290 Eur for the other insurances giving total peace of mind). 100% would be 1830 Eur - I guess I would be driving another car then.
FYI, you will not be able to register your car at the local council unless you have a proof of insurance.
Oh, and road tax I pay 432 Eur per year.
Best regards from Bavaria.

Hi,
I know Im a little late to reply here, but I have just purchased a 2005 TDV6 HSE D3 and had massive problems with German insurers accepting my Aussie driving record & Insurance NCB - I hear that its not so much a problem for people in the EU, UK, and North America.
Anyways, I managed to get full comprehensive insurance, unlimited kms, any driver, for 890 Euro per year.
Im based in Bavaria.
Hope that helps.
