Nice to meet you today...
As discussed, Timsons in Leamington wouldn't cut the new key so I called around to the lads at Heathcote.
They will cut for £20.00 but the card machine was faulty and I hadn't any cash on me :: so will try again tomorrow with some cash on me just in case.
Nice to meet you today too mate,
The offer stands regards my iid tool, but nowt like owning your own for instant paranoia

What’s the cost to programme?
Have GAP IID and can programme my own keys so cost to programme is free, just have to buy an IID tool for the priviledge

Had another look on eBay last night and found a proper UK seller not some Chinese company with UK warehouse listing stuff.
Messaged the seller and looks like he is a car key bod who does the work and not just sell them and he came back quite quickly and confirmed there would be a warranty and if it failed to charge would sort it out.
It is a little more pricey at £29- but I had a £10 off code for eBay so it worked out the same price as the Chinese sellers.
Lets see how this one goes.

Just to let you know, the key that I purchased from the original link is all up and working.
Cut and programmed by the guys on Heathcote.
Really good and knowledgeable lads.
Will see how it performs over the next few months.

So the key arrived, had it cut for £10 at the local Timpsons, they must have told me at least 5 times they couldn't warranty it as they hadn't supplied the key!
Programmed fine with IID tool
.
Looking at the fob it is a slightly different design to the previous Chinese key I had so hoping this one lasts

I replaced the plastic key fob cases for my keys, but then one of the keys stopped working (the lock/unlock functions stopped working). It was a bit temperamental before I changed the fob cases, but shortly after replacing the case it died completely. The battery seems to be okay.
I have a IID tool, but my +/- cruise control button no longer works, so I have ordered a new clock spring and will have to change that before I can use the IID tool.
Can the keys lose synchronisation, or is the remote control circuitry in the key likely to be stuffed?
