D3 - Remap

Guys,

My son has a VW T4 and he's just had it remapped locally and he's absolutely buzzing with the results to a point where I'm wondering if I should take the plunge and get my 2007 D3 done.

I'm not technical by any stretch. I have knowledge and can tinker a bit but certainty no deep knowledge so I don't really understand the pros and cons of it. I understand from my son that its more torque, smother pick up, more economical etc BUT, I worry whether doing this kind of thing may introduce other problems.
The vehicle runs well to me so I've never thought about it until my son brought it up.

I'm on the Wirral and use Ian Barclay for repairs/servicing who is a LR expert and excellent and Bodsy did a software update for me a while ago to give me full bluetooth phone connectivity/functionality. There is this guy also on the Wirral that I've read on here about too http://www.dynachip.co.uk/

So I just wanted to gauge opinions on whether or not to go for it and if anyone locally can recommend who to use.

Thanks
Mick

Use Bodsy again for your remap. He's a Bell Auto Services agent. And he'll come to you so much more convenient Bow down

PS Blank your EGR with a kit (Bodsy can recommend one) while you're doing it to preserve engine longevity. Bodsy can also map out the EGR (to avoid EML light flashing up) whilst doing your remap. You'll notice a difference straight away with the blank and remap. It will feel like a completely different motor Bow down

In addition to the above, change the air filter far more frequently than recommended in the service schedule.
A quality filter is cheap to buy from the likes of Advanced Factors and it takes 10 minutes or less to do.

a D3 is very mellow tuned for its weight IMHO

there is a LOT to optimize, regarding drivebillity for this gardenshed on wheels..

so regarding, tuning: yes!

Who? someone you trust.... (i advice you to avoid "just internet tuners")
BUT someone like Bodsy/flack/BAS a well know combination here on the forum and i did never read negative reviews about them..

i did it myself through vantuner.co.uk why? he is a Diesel tuning specialist and because he did more of our company cars in the past with very satisfying results for a good price, (although he is cheaper for regular customers.. i can not mention any numbers, but really easy money!) and his maps are dyno tested with simmilar cars/motors...

although YOUR motor on the Dyno and then mapped and fine tuned is ALWAYS the best solution....IMHO

doesn't do BAS that if requested? i think so..
 Best regards
Harold
