A good starting point would be the code that is shown as a "boing" does not show in the error list. The more I think about this, and it disappeared when you did a calibration. I would be looking at a possible mechatronics connection or an earth associated with the gearbox.

Out of interest does the fault appear if you ensure the car always has either the side lights or headlights on when you put it in any forwards or reverse drive. If this stops the fault you could have an earthing issue. Must stop buying shiny toys....

Good Morning All.
Im very happy to report that it looks like this issue has eventually been solved.
lots of trial and error, chatting to guru's. "messing" around myself on the car.
luckily, with a cheap Bluetooth dongle for OBDII and my Iphone, ( using combination of OBD Fusion and Car Scanner )
i found a P173E(00) fault code. some googling pointed me to the transfer case module behind the battery in the engine bay.
Typically this fault was confirmed by being able to remove the key from ignition when the car was running, I was NOT able to do so.
Anyway, battery and the transfer case cover and module removed, removing the module is pretty easy, but immediately noticed green / blue corrosion on the 2 smaller connectors.
the large one was clean.
I cleaned all with electrical connector cleaner and let dry. I did have to fix the wire/ pin on the module pin 9 of the yellow connector, this is the same pin for the key solenoid.
Protective spray on reassembly and all has tested out.
Driven the car for several hundred KM now all short stop start, fetch kids from school. shops etc driving and the fault has not returned once.
