D3 Wheels onto a D2

May have already been asked and I think I already know the answer, but will my winter 17" wheels off my D3 fit onto my 2002 D2.

Cheers

Paul

Nope , tried it myself a few weeks ago just out of curiosity.Stud Pattern is OK but the centre spigot & nuts are not.
I presume there is something out there though that adjusts for these minor problems .

Yes, will fit but need to use D3 wheel nuts and a spigot ring for the centre. AndrewS should be able to tell you where to get the ring from as Craig has them on his D2

Hmmm - anyone know what the wheel weight rating is for a D2?

I have 5 non-LR wheels currently for sale on fleabay - they were from my D3 but after joining this great group I realised they were not the correct weight rating for a D3; I'm now trying to sell them for the 2nd time and I think it would help if I could state what vehicle they would suite, even if it means they need a spigot ring.

Thumbs Up
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I have a spare set of the necessary centering rings (ie 4), FOC to a good home if anyone wants them.

As I no longer have my D2 they are unused and surplus. While I had it I had both the earlier 6 spoke RR 19" wheel (smaller, black nuts), and RRS HSE 19" (D3 silver nuts). Both styles fitted with no fouling or other issues when fitted with 255/55/19 tyres.

I still have some new tyres fitted to new RR wheels so will be seeing if they fit the D3 shortly, I´ll swap over the tyres to the RRS rims if not...
 Cheers

Dredging the grey matter - If I remember rightly, the spigot rings & nuts can be obtained from Covertwiseguy on Ebay?

The HSE19's certainly look good on the D2 Thumbs Up

Personally, taking into account the weight of the wheel, weight of the D2 and the loads involved, I wouldn´t use plastic rings - they may well be easier than metal to damage when removing the wheel for maintenance etc.

Embarassed ...yes, I´ve edited it to correct just so when space aliens dig up the server in the year 3015 one of them doesn´t get misled by my post and put D3 wheels on his D2 using plastic rings and come a cropper at the first bend... Very Happy
 Cheers

D2 tyre weight rating is 106, so lower than D3 (at 111), so would assume that wheel rating is probably 900kg (same as RRS).

Al - agreed but I was really talking about the actual weight of the wheel and tyre, they aren't the lightest of beasts and it would be quite easy to graunch a plastic ring while mating the wheel to the hub IMHO, hopefully (and mine were), the metal rings would be more robust...
