D3 Window Tinting

Thinking of getting the rear windows on my D3 tinted to look like factory spec but have a few questions that I hope some of you here can help with;

- what is the factory spec percentage tint on a D3?
- has anyone had a D3 windows tinted recently and could advise on the cost?
- does anyone know/would recommend a really good company to tint D3 windows in the North Notts area or mobile in this area?

Many Thanks

You can’t get them to look factory spec since on those it’s a pigment in the glass while on yours it’ll be a layer on the inside. The difference is that on the cargo compartment windows and the rear window you’ll see orange patterns (antennas, rear window heating) while on factory glass you won’t.

I don't know if it's the same on all models, but on my D4 (2011), the factory tinted glasses ("rear privacy glasses") are coated with a kind of varnish on the inside face, that can be accidentally scratched.

See this for comparison between before and after. https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/tinted-wind...ght=Llumar. The film is Llumar, 5%.

Are you sure that isn't bandit film fitted onto the privacy glass? That is quite easy to scratch and would look like that...

Is this a DIY kit? If so was it easy to fit without getting lots of air bubbles? Have you got a link for where to purchase?

Many Thanks

Has anyone had any experience with the kits from eBay? What’s the quality like? Ease of fitting?

Hi SR4x4, yes, DIY, got them from these guys as they had been recommended on a few posts on he forum.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291057256493?mk...media=COPY
I didn’t need the full kit so messaged them telling them which windows I wanted, then ordered he full kit and they gave an immediate refund for the windows I didn’t want.

Ordered this fitting kit as well, worked well

As it’s cold I put a fan heater in the car for a while before I started and gave the windows a quick blow over with a heat gun to help warm the glass up.

I’m in no rush to get it done, so will probably wait until the weather gets warmer!
