D4 with a 100,000 miles ish - will change the following....

Hello everyone,
I've been looking on autotrader and Motors in the UK and have seen some LR4s at 100'000 miles ish.
The following is what I'll be changing myself.
Alternator.
Oil pump.
Water pump.
Oil change & filter.
Oil sump filter
Belts
Battery

This may seem OTT, but I just want to make sure everything is working. I'm planning on keeping this a long time and doing a lot of travelling up and down the UK and into Europe.
Is there anything I should also look at for future replacements or at least be aware of?
I have a garage and a lot of the usual tools.
Kind regards

Welcome to the mad house. Tell us more about the car.

As for bits to watch out for, suspension compressor, EPB and corroded brake lines might need looking at at that mileage. Also if it has had steps fitted then look out for corrosion on the sills.

Thanks for the quick reply.
One particular LR4 has had its Timing belt changed in 2021. 15 months warranty. Vehicle reg 01/03/2010.
Again, I'm still looking.
My list maybe a little overkill, but I'm married with 3 kids and I want the vehicle for a long time.
Thanks for your list.
I'll look into the suspension compressor & EPB, but the vehicles have no steps.

I'll be landing in the UK from Taiwan in May, so it will be hunting around.
I already have an Xtool D7 code reader that will help a lot.
Did have a LR3 Discovery in 2009 and that thing ran like a charm. Just kept up with maintenance.
My brother has a RR 2015 Autobiography, and with regular maintenance, that has run without a hitch, just going in for a new battery.
Appreciate your time in answering.
Thanks.

Hello and welcome...

My 2014 D4 is at 92K now...

From what I've learned/had done/needed done I'd add the following...

Definitely get the side steps or whatever is there off and deal with what you find underneath. A huge tub of copper grease as a minimum but be prepared for worse..

If you're taking the sump off then change the electronic oil level measurement sensor. They are prone to going and a big job to do as it is sump off.

Compressor service if not change.

Front arms.

If it's a 2016 plate then I'd change the earth strap too. Those seem prone to breaking on the later cars..

I'd be swapping out the internal lights for LEDs as the OEM ones are a big drain on the battery when on and you're at a stopping place.

Remove the locking wheel nuts as they will fail leaving you with a big headache probably when you least need it.

Think carefully about some form of security as these are targeted cars. Personally, I can't recommend my Autowatch Ghost system highly enough but there are mixed views on here about most things!

Then comes the list of 'goodies' and modifications which is endless and as long as your desire and wallet deep.

Also, get familiar with the 'Search' function above, it accesses a mine of information on nearly any topic LR or life...

Enjoy your D4 journey, they are awesome cars....

Thumbs Up
 Jim

Forgot to add, get a spare wheel protector to stop thieving scum stealing it. Search RLD wheel protector on here. Depending on age will depend if you need the Adblue version or not.

Cheers.
Didn't think about changing to LED!
The 'goodies' Yes, I've seen what you can get and I guess I'll have to 'ask the boss' first.
Cheers for your help.
