There were two changes over time:
1/. Timing belt idler reinforced - some time during d3 production
2/. Pump capacity increased - the original d3 pump was 11.5 mm wide, it went too 15mm. I ‘think’ that was when the engines went too 3.0 litre.
Your d4 should have both those upgrades.
Then finally on gen 2 engines the oil pressure relief valve moved too sense oil gallery pressure rather than pump pressure. Gives you better oil pressure control. BUT you can’t fit that pump to your engine
