You wouldn't want to go down the extraction tube anyway as narrow pipes take ages to draw out the oil. Attaching direct to the pipe makes it so much quicker.
The vacuum extraction point is 7.8mm OD. This happens to be the ID of the first extension tube on some Pela pumps, but clearly a longer length would be better. So grab a bit of tube with around 7mm ID and use it to join the widest of your Pela extensions to the extraction point.
JLR do list an adaptor that fits to the bayonet of the extraction pipe, but no doubt they want treasure in return for one.

Great work there. I have tubing which will allow you to join the vacuum extractor hose to the tube. For doing such a good write up, I will send you some if you want. Pm me an address. I found that I only needed a short length to allow the extractor to sit on the ground.
Could the drip be sunroof drain tubes or aircon tubes?
Hi swansty, I have a 2016 SDV6 3.0, Very much a novice with this vehicle, Ive managed to keep my Td5 as well. I also wish to do mid service engine oil change and thought that it would be simple, ha. My recently purchased Pela vacuum extractor hose/tube does not fit down the extraction tube , damn. So , having just joined this forum, I appreciate the extra info re joining the extractor hose to the tube. What is it exactly that you use please Thank you
I have just bought a set of vernier callipers so you have given me reason to use them. Will check tonight the dimensions of the hose I use. The stuff I used isn't strictly vacuum hose but done the job.

Thanks - great write up as I'm going down the vacuum pump route for my oil change having watched a YouTube of the sump approach featuring a hot oil shower via the chassis rail!

Any idea of the part number cannot find on JLR tools site.
The adapter listed is designed for the LR vacuum pump to fit. It looks like an air fitting style connector. I just used a short length of 1/4” hose. That is a tight push fit over the engine vacuum pipe, and a tight fit onto my eBay special vacuum hand pump.

Well done Dan a great write up. My 16 plate still has a service plan until next year but I do the intermediate oil change myself.
For the haters/doubters etc. I sucked the oil out, then removed the drain bung and zero oil came out, not a drop, the drain tube is situated lower than the drain bung so there is no issue sucking the oil out at all.

Can anyone who has used a vacuum to remove oil with the oil extraction pipe on a D4 tell me how much roughly gets left behind in the sump if done on level ground.
Just trying to work out how much less than 5.9 litres will be needed when I re-fill.
I sucked the oil out, then removed the drain bung and zero oil came out, not a drop, the drain tube is situated lower than the drain bung so there is no issue sucking the oil out at all.
According to the above, zero oil is left.

Not strictly true, there will always be some left in the sump, what I said was that no more oil is removed by removing the drain bung.

So I did the oil change today - now has Motul in it rather than the unknown oil done as a service by the dealer I got it from.
Got the engine up to temperature and then loosened the filter housing and the filler cap and sucked out the oil - took less time than I expected - must have been 6-8 mins and no mess at all.
New filter in and all done in 15 mins with no oil on the drive or under plates to re attach.

Did that end come with the Kit or is that the proper Landrover adapter?
