D4 3.0 Oil and filter change question (sorted) |
|
Any special caution with the oil and filter change?
I know that the 3.0 oil filter element is not "keyed" as the 2.7 one, and that the oil filter insert black tube must be in place and not discarded (thanks TLO for the SSM), but, after the oil and filter change, i now hear a tappety noise when the engine is just started, as the 2.7 use to do when started, but mine is a 3.0. i think that the oil filter is well mounted, and i was very careful inserting it, all went smooth, no brute force...no force at all.
Before inserting the new oil filter and cap both mounted in the housing I looked into the filter housing and saw the auto purge plug and sort of spring of the purge system (and dont touched anything), as i dont know the position in the past, dont know the correct position. but i feel (and assume) that the spring and the plug dont moves (or rotates or whatever) freely in the housing as it look as fixed to the housing, so it could not be easily misaligned but i dont really know...
I dont overtightened anything, dinamometric wrench used. no leaks, engine sound great.
quantity of new oil equal to the waste one. perfect level to the max after restart and go for a walk.
maybe I never heard the tappety noise in the past, and it maybe have been always there, but..... I'm so worried now!!
any one have the original 3.0 oil change instructions to have a look?

All sorted
Matter of sound isolation that was loose. Glueing it do the trick.
All perfect now as it was before, just coincidental that i change oil and filter and the noise started.
So happy again!!
