Hi
I am in the decision stage...
1) The GS spec seems to do ALMOST all I need?
2) Will I regret not shelling out the extra for XS/HSE
QUESTION 
If buying a nearly new 3.0 GS, is it possible to retro-fit:
a) Cruise control
b) roof rails
c) Others?
Are there any issues with warranty?
Thanks in advance of any replies Golf R32 gone... bring on the mud and ruts

Roof rails yes 
Used to be able to fit cruise on the D3 but I am not sure if it has been done on D4 yet, Pete and BellAutos is your man for this MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

same boat as yourself and opted for a used 3.0 GS with, bright pack, grand black trim and sidesteps. Does everything i need from a car and at a smidge over 31k, great value.
The only 2 handy features missing to me are front PDC and cruise would have been handy.
As for ipod/usb ive just burnt a cd full of mp3 albums and that works great
I've just had privacy glass done for 150 quid and it has retained the OEM look Cars:-MY11 Evoque SD4 Pure, MY12 Defender 90 XS & MY08 Evo X RS
