D4 37mpg on trip to Val d`isere

So just been on the annual boys ski trip, pumped the tires up to 2.5 bar fronts and 2.7 bar rear, added half a litre of mineral 2 stroke oil and hey presto 37 mpg @ 80 mph average, thats amazing (our car has alive Ecu tune). Also realized that driving in Sport mode on twisty roads without paddle shift engaged is FAR better

Most I ever got in 12 years on my D3 was 25 mpg & that fell by 10% after changing the belts, something I probably wouldnt do again given the choice on an engine running perfectly. 50% more economy on the SDV6 D4 is simply awesome !!

I regularly return 33-nearly 36mpg on my daily 35 mile commute to work (based on dashboard)

getting around 27mpg round town

not too different to my old FL2 autos

Re these high mpg numbers, reality or trip comp/lie-o-meter? I found that if I switched to super diesel the mpg would immediately go up by a fair wedge however fuel in vs miles done was same old, same old. It was like the trip comp was having a sugar rush. Thumbs Up

This is def real, if only you could get something mildly similar in the RRS SDV8 I would buy one but from the few I have driven thats impossible

My lieometer is accurate in the summer give or take .1mpg, but mostly dead on, adjusted with the iiD -7% winter not so accurate, put it down to the FBH.

As DSL has said, if you’re quoting the figures from the dash, they’ll be a mile off (probably at least 10%), unless the computer has been adjusted using an IID device (or similar). The ONLY accurate way is to use the brim to brim method. Is this what you used?

My long term average on the EU6 engine 2016 D4 was 27.98mpg using the Road Trip fuel app. i never got more than 33 mpg on a long motorway run at c.70mph.

I can get more mpg on a motorway run out of 4.4 SDV8, mid 30's are easily achievable, but then it's lighter and more aerodynamic and the V8 is barely ticking over. With a mix of town and off roading it has dropped to a low of 22.16 mpg.

Long term average should be much the same as the D4 I'd guess, it's still too early to tell.

My D4 driven fairly hard over 24,470 miles has used 1,022.69 gallons of fuel giving a realistic 23.9 MPG.

The lieometer on the dash usually shows an average of 26 or more mpg over a reasonable journey so is overstating by over 2 MPG.

The best MPG on any tankful has been 26.5 MPG a relaxed trip from Hampshire, through Somerset to Wales.

The worst 16.5 on a high speed trip in Europe. The worst trip in the UK was 18.1, in summer stop/start with A/c running. I also had 18.1 for a tankful of local driving in very cold weather over a few days with daily use of the FBH.

Much better than my DB6 which did less than 9 MPG on a summer trip to the South of France, travelling with a DB4GT which did even less !
