D4 buying advice - thinking of taking the plunge.

Hi I’m thinking of swapping from a puma 110 to a disco. I wont ask if this is a good idea as I’m sure I’ll be told yes. A couple of things I’m struggling to fathom though:

Which year or models are in the lower tax bracket? Does this coincide withe stop/start models?

How important is a warranty -I appreciate they are a complex vehicle - is land rover approved essential? Are I dependent warranties any good or should I consider a private offering if it has a full dealer service history?

I’ve also seen some commercials converted to 5 seats ( I don’t need a 7 seater) are there any pros or cons with these? I assume they must be insured as a van

Any views very much appreciated, thanks.

Take a look in the classifieds, I might be tempted by a swap!

The lower tax vehicles are indeed the stop start ones.

I have no real knowledge of independent warranties. But the Land Rover one is pretty good and assuming you get the full fat one (there is a cheaper offering which isn't, as you would imagine so comprehensive) it covers most eventualities. Generally the dealer should sort any warranty work without you having to do anything. They'll apply and get it okayed for you and crack on. And yes, a warranty is a good idea for the reason you state.

Don't know much about the commercials, but if you want back seats, why look at commercials?

Oh and yes, it's a good idea to get a D4. You'll save on your chiropractor charges if nothing else.

Be a year at least before tings even start to resemble normal.
Keep your money in your wallet.

Car dealers (new and used) closing down all over the place, and I bet many will not reopen.

True but as I’ve a car to sell I guess it’s value will suffer in the same way - certainly uncertain times though!

I would think the 110 would hold it's value more suitable for farmers rather than a Disco with the car tax etc and being a premium type vehicle.

Hi....we bought a 2015 commercial last year....its had a 5seat interior fitted and the log book states 5seat light commercial. Meaning its only £260 a year tax but we did find some insurance co's. wouldn't quote on it....no real biggie as plenty would...it actually came in cheaper than the wife's Mini it replaced Shocked Ours was done with genuine interior from a breaker...apart from the seat belts..those were new. I work for the firm that owned it from new so know it was done properly. He purchased it new and did the conversion in house then it went into his lease fleet to one of the directors of his biggest customer.
