D4 Engine Oil

I have run a few searches without any luck in my quest for which engine oil - apologies in advance if this topic/post is wrong.
I would like to buy some engine oil just for top-up purposes as I have a 1000 mile trip through Belgium and France coming up in the next 10 days or so. The local dealer said Castrol Magnatec 5w 30 - however the hand book gives the following code wss-mc2934-B, which I am unable to find if this is unobtainable that it is permissible to use acea-c2 which I cannot find either. Some help would be appreciated. Sorry if this is a really silly question but I am a bit lost.
Thanks,

George

wss-mc2934-B doesn't sound correct. WSS-M2C913-B is the right stuff for the D3, would have thought the D4 was the same

Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 will do you just fine, and is easy to get hold of. LR push Castrol, and their Edge range is widely available.

Just make sure whatever you get is fully synthetic.

Thanks for the reply. I checked my hand book just to make sure. The following is from the hand book page 204.

Diesel vehicles
SAE 5W-30 meeting specification WSS-M2C934-B only
Specification
1 If you are unable to find an oil that meets the specification defined by WSS-M2C934-B, an SAE 5W-30 engine oil meeting specification ACEA:C2 can be used.

Sorry, make that Castrol Powerflow, not Edge (that's the old name for it I think)

The Ford standard oils are not so widely available, and Powerflow SLX may be the only one you can buy in small volumes that exactly mtaches the spec.

A quick Google for WSS-M2C934-B suggests it's a little hard to get hold of too

I'd have thought a LR dealer would be able to sell you a litre though, presumably they're using the right stuff or better when servicing 3.0l D4/RRS's?

I wouldn't be too woried about topping up with an oil that meets ACEA:C2 - complete oil change is probably different.

A dealer in Oz put 15W40 in a TDV6 and the engine has blown. Would there be a connection?

Got the oil at last - Land Rover are unable to supply at the moment due to lack of a part number so got it from the local Jag dealer! Castrol SLX Professional PowerFlow C1 5w-30 - States on bottle Recommended by Jaguar and Land Rover and matches the LR spec WSS-M2C-934-B.

SLX Professional Powerflow C1 5W 30 with specifications: WSS-M2C-934B is the answer from CASTROL.

I've asked the Oilman if he is prepared to stock this oil.

My local dealer can only get a bulk supply - so for a 1L top up you either take your own 1L can or let them fill it up. That said they didn't charge me any labour - nice news for a change.

Thank you for the tip patrick, I will call dealer tomorrow. hope they are sympthetico. and only a 50 mile round trip there then...

Halfords have an 5W - 30 ACEA: C2 oil in their own brand name, in litre & 5 litre sizes. Took a litre with me to France, as oil level was indicating half full, or is that half empty Question Read out said level was OK. Drove from home to Nice and back (about 2700miles)and oil level did not move.
