D4 - Fairy Lights/ Side lights/ DRLs modification-Any Help? |
|
Hi All
So I asked in another section of the forum and I feel like I have searched it to death. So to confirm what I have already found out.
Early D4 none HSE models don't have Fairy lights (they are not DRLs they are side lights, I have learnt that), I bought a set of D4 standard none HSE headlights and I am considering options with playing with them.
What I am trying to find out is, has anyone split the units down and made a none fairy light model have fairy lights by retro fitting LEDs that fit in the existing blanks in the headlight. I am thinking it would be good to have many in a line as per the current Range Rover Vogues as I feel this would make them look a lot more current. Anyone had any joy retro fitting anything.
I understand that there are lot of comments on other parts on the forum about why the hell would people want to do this. Well I am one of those idiots and I am hoping another idiot has given it a good god and has list of tried and tested options and idiot proof guide
Thanks all

To add I am likely to split the unit anyway to paint the inside black to look more like a disco 4.5. Assuming it will be the same as the disco 3 for de tangoing, can anyone advise if they have done this if it is the same?

From memory it has been done but I believe the D4 lights are a LOT harder to get apart compared with D3 ones. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
MY15 D4 HSE Kaikoura Stone
MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone
D3 S spec Silver Sold and gone
Tow bar, full length roof bars, side steps, tow bar storage unit, surround camers.

It's not often done because its so easy just to buy secondhand xenon units with the fairy lights already in and swap the units (not forgetting that the xenons will need enabling for them to work).

Hi all, thanks for your replys...
I have found lots of stuff on people wiring the fairy lights to come on with ignition but no one retro fitting the fairy lights...
Also I have see a couple of mentions about light mods on the fog lights, does anyone have links to this as I need to buy fog lights anyway so it there is a smarter option then now is the time.
The car is a disco 3 and has factory xenons so with would be a shame to suffer not having xenons.
Maybe I will just have to by HSE ones, issue is they are quite abit more and don't want to be stuck with a set of halogen ones aswell.

Sorry hasn't realised it was a D3, assumed you had non xenon/led on a D4.
You do realise that D4 lights aren't a straight swap into a D3? You need bumper, grille, wings to do the conversion.

Are the LR4 headlights a plug and play sorta deal with the LR3 after you have the bumper and wings fitted?
