D4 Front Caliper Brackets - Identifying Left and Right from
Help please.
I took my front caliper brackets off to clean them up as part of changing the front calipers.
I have mixed them up and they are not stamped left or right.
On online parts lists brackets have different LR part numbers for left and right.
The numbers stamped on mine do not come up on any google search
I have:
3502/CBI 6 2253
3502/CBI 9 2383
They appear identical, but if that is the case why have different part numbers???
Any help advice appreciated
Thanks
Andrew

It looks like you have aftermarket carriers fitted, I can’t find any numbers to match yours. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for looking, Not sure if they are OEM but probably are as car is low mileage and had a good service history when I bought it.
I think they are TRW as the stamping format and first part of the numbers matches the caliper in this photo although this is for a 2014 D4 and mine is 2013 so is of no help.
The first part of the number 3502 / is the same and the relevant part of the number would seem to be CBI 6 or CBI 9 for left or right. I assume the last 4 digits are a batch number.

The part number on the box is entirely different to the stamped number on the calliper. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Yes the box number does not match the stamps. However I still think they are TRW OEM. There are several Youtube videos of disc changes and you can see exactly the same number stamping as this part. This Powerful UK one is just about readable at 32 mins 44 secs that the left caliper is 3502 / CBI 6.
That may well be the answer I am looking for, but there is no guarantee that these brackets have not been swapped at some point.
If anyone knows for certain or is going to be examining their caliper bracket on a 2013 I'd still appreciate confirmation, thanks again

Yes I seem to have caused some confusion.
My caliper brackets are stamped up
3502/CBI 6 2253
3502/CBI 9 2383
I am hoping to find out which of these is left and which is right.
The photo is not of my part but for a later vehicle, I added it to show that TRW stamp up there parts using this numbering/letter sequence and that I therefore think mine are TRW OEM parts.
The TRW stamps do not correspond to the LR part number or any other numbering in any part listing. John Craddock have photographed the one shown above from an angle you can read the stamps, the other (correct for my vehicle) brackets they have listed for the D4 2013 are different part numbers and are photographed form a different angle so you cannot read the stamps.
Thanks Andrew

Hi again. Thanks. That link is correct for my vin number, but there still seems to be confusion here - I don't want to buy a new part.
I have cleaned up the two caliper brackets I have and I just want to know which one goes on the left and which ones goes on the right, so I can refit them. LR gives different part numbers for left and right, but they appear identical (especially when covered in crud and rust).
If anyone can identify which is the left and which is the right from these markings that are stamped on the ones I have please let me know:
3502/CBI 6 2253
3502/CBI 9 2383
Or if you can confirm that it doesn't matter which side they go on that would help too.
Many thanks
Andrew

Hi. Thanks for the offer, that would help. They look identical to each other and also a mirror image down the centre line of the bracket.
I need the car for Monday so I will be refitting them tomorrow morning as I need to bleed the system as well, so I will have to check fitting both way rounds.
I had delayed today to see if anyone could answer. Whilst I cant see a difference I was perplexed by the different part numbers for left and right. I was kind of expecting to find on here that this was a badly kept secret that LR use different part numbers left and right even though the part is the same?
Thanks again Andrew

Years ago my dad owned an Opel Senator.
Someone ran into the back of him and we needed both rear number plate lights.
These were identical looking items, but the nearside one was twice the price of the offside.
The parts guy said that as the nearside one was directly above the exhaust, this one got brittle/discoloured and was changed more often than the other side, hence GM marked it up to make more money.
He also said the offside one would fit upsidedown on the nearside, so no prizes for guessing what we bought.
Sometimes there is no reason for different numbers, just bean counters justifying their existence.

From memory one of the slider pins has a rubber sleeve 2/3 of the way down the pin and is either the top or bottom pin on each side - if you check the instructions for replacing the slider pins you can then work out which is which brake carrierMust stop buying shiny toys....

Much the same as the Evoque and FL2 parts
Different part numbers, Evoque bits are more expensive, but they are exactly the same parts My D3 Build Thread
