D4 gearbox oil change/flush
What is the current recommended interval for this? Am coming to the end of my 2 year LR warranty, and want to ensure they have done everything they should have. Don't think the gearbox oil has been changed, and am at 73k miles, 2012 model.

LR say lifetime I think, but this is there are plenty of threads where the gearbox has failed probably down to the oil never being changed.

I think the consensus is that LRs recommended 150k interval is too long and something like 50-70k depending on use would be desirable. D4 GS 12MY

My D4 is coming ulto 7 years old with 117k on the clock so it could do with a flush.

Do the 8 speed boxes suffer in the same way as the 6 speeds?New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

A lot less components in the 8-speed but if not looked after it will still suffer the same fate.
I'll be doing my second drain and fill on my 8-speed soon - with about 45k on the clock.
Change early, change often and the ZF box will outlast the car.

ZF recommend fluid change intervals of 80,000-120,000km, depending on normal or heavy use.

so if ZF recommend more often changes, how can LR get away with fewer?

Because it fails outside warranty, and so they don't care....
Sad, but true. New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.

I am also in the same position in terms of age of vehicle/mileage and will be wanting to carry out a GB oil change soon. Has anyone figured out the method of a full flush Service yet on the 8speed?

I'm also looking to flush an 8spd in the near future. Had the car since march and its a MY13 with 103k on the clock so seeing some threads about doing flushes early and often started me worrying. It's not something I considered when buying the car as it's my first LR.
I was thinking it best to change the filter at the same time as a flush with my mileage but I'm finding it hard to find the part online.
Has anyone changed the filter? As I understand it, the filter is part of the bottom cover so it's means replacing the whole plastic dump plate?
I've read Robbie's instructions many times and I'm just picking up the courage to tackle it.

8 speed in the near future Geoff or is it a way off at the moment, may have to do a Robbie style change.
