It is nice. It's getting loaded with wood tomorrow but in the shape of coffee tables and a chest so will be in full Lovejoy mode.

It is indeed. And still clean, haven't even had a Micky Dees in it, yet.
11 hours in her yesterday, discovered I can watch the DVD that was left in the player when stuck in traffic jams. Engine power & smoothness is excellent, my D3 isn't that much slower to accelerate but the delivery is great cf a 160k gearbox. Mpg a smidgen better than I'd expect from my D3, 33mpg for a long haul at 60mph but with about an hour of stop start traffic and 40 miles in Forest of Dean (for rocket fuel black coffee from MrH), then A9 norf of Perth. Oh, and a load area full of furniture. Trip comp read 36mpg so similar ove-read as my D3. Well that's traditional.
Great fun when I put the SatNav into off-road mode and took about half an hour until I managed to switch it back to road mode. Monkey & works of Shakespeare sprang to mind. It didn't get dark enough to use auto high beam, found the not so secret menu when I wondered what the RHS twiddly bit on the steering wheel did. Only thing to do is figure out how to get DAB presets stored. It was a bit fiddly getting stations but figures it out, preset R2 would help. Will have a leaf through the manual and see what I've missed.
The next job. Explaining the tech to SWMBO. I tried to explain how the keyless locking worked but she concluded she was just going to use the fob.

Ah, cheers. I was under a misconception. Can they be enabled with the IID to be DRLs? Thought the manual says that if DRLs were on it's headlamps and all on, like Scandinavian lights on the D3. Not a problem though.
Nope, no enablement for the fairy lights as they effectively they are your sidelights. If you set DRLs via the IID the headlights will come on, just like your D3.
With a couple of jumper wires in the passenger fuse box the fairy lights can replicate DRLs though. I have a guide on the forum somewhere.

Cheers, will have a look. I really like the newer type DRLs but will resist the temptation to see how I could do that.

Old-D will like to have company, honest. And Old-D can tell New-D all about the jolly to the Pyrenees, starting in 10 days.
Re number plates, will be loosing the 11 plate fairly quickly as have a DSL plate on retention. Just got to get my sweaty mits on the V5. Will prob sort it out once back from the Pyrenees. And mine will be put on straight!!

Just realised yesterday that this is the 3rd time we've been a double D3/4 family. That's gonna get me certified for sure.

Oh, and what is this surveillance mode thing? Seen the binoculars symbol a few times yesterday and found 3 blank entries in a menu but have no idea what it's about.

Right, done shade over 1,400 miles in the last ten days. Most of that Mway but lots of hilly stuff and general A roads, plus urban stuff. A few thoughts and observations. All IMHO, of course.
It's nice to drive a newer car, well one with a lot less wear on it cf the D3 (29k/5 years pampered vs 156k/10 years of abuse). The engine and gearbox are deffo a load smoother. The ride is a bit squishier than the D3 but my conclusion is it's not that much different from my D3. It is a good bit punchier, and delivers that more smoothly.
The SatNav is pretty much the same as I had on my long departed 06MY HSE, it still tries to take you off the A9 and through the middle of Dunblane! When in doubt I just fire up Google maps. Came off the M40 at J15 today, wanted the 3rd exit off the roundabout, it took me round to the 4th exit and then tried to take me through what looked like a housing estate. Good to see things don't change.
Auto high beam assistance thingie is officially pants. I persevered with it for ~45 minutes in the early hours this morning, then switched it off and off it will stay. It's far too slow to switch to dipped beam when it sees oncoming traffic and too slow to switch back on when the car/truck in front I was following went out of sight around a bend. It's also afraid of it's own reflection, when I pass reflective road signs it doesn't know what to do.
Who thought putting the cup holders in the front where they are is a good idea? The cups are awkward to reach and just plain get in the way. There is total lack of practicality in the cab area, the "ashtray" is only good for MickyDees loyalty card, the little slot by the left 12v socket is pretty useless. I've tried putting my shades in there but they fly out when I hoof it.
I like the keyless entry/start malarkie, got used to it very quickly and it's great not having to put stuff down to get in. So far haven't driven off with the key in SWMBO's pocket, mainly coz SWMBO hasn't driven it yet. The problem I can see with auto locking is I've already been just pulling the handle on the D3 to predicatable results.
Can't get the timed climate working even though it's enabled and cold enough outside. Will start a separate thread on that.
No idea what the rear screen entertainment is like as can't see the screens from the driver's seat!!
Don't get me wrong, very happy with New-D, and even happier that we are keeping both of the Discos. Got a 3k trip to the Pyrenees in Old-D starting on Thursday, will talk to her nicely in case she's got the 'ump. Was good to drive her again as she's like an old pair of slippers, well broken in.
No doubt more thoughts will pop into my mind but that's all I can think about at the mo.
