D4 left hand drive blackvue install guide
hello, after my short trip back to the UK I picked up a blackvue and have just installed it. Took some photos to show. Not a hard job thanks to previous posts on the subject.
step 1 prepare a fuse I butchered a fuse like this (still retaining its fuse like function)

Step 2
grap the the front and pull back and down

step 3
This is the mirror surround stick a finger in here and seperate the two sides (they just pull apart)

step 4
Remove the "airbag" plastic cover on the pillar and remove the self tapping torque screw pull away the door rubber

step 5
Notch the mirror cover for the cable to pass through

step 6
open lower glove box and press the guides to allow it to fully open

step 7
Remove entry assist handles

step 8
Feed a stiff piece of wire along here until it pops out near the curtesy light cluster

Its popped out

step 9
tape the BV power cable to the stiff wire and pull it back through

I added sticky back foam to stop any small knocking noises

step 9
feed the wire down to the mirror (you can just pull the roof lining down near the glass with your hand)
step 10
Feed the wire behind the airbag in the pillar (I stuck it behind with the foam)

step 11
The lower plastic cover near the glove box pulls off. You can see the plastic clip in this photo. Continue feeding the wire here (with foam again)

step 12
When you feed the wire all the way down you can sneak it into the fuse box area through here.

step 13
Trim the positive wire and attach pre prepared fuse

step 14
This finally will go into unused fuse number 41 (this is unused on mine so no need to piggy back) this is a perm live unaffected by ignition cycle) sorry photo isn't too clear

step 15
I mounted the BV here it is out of my line of vision and not obvious from the outside

I earthed as per other posts on the glove box mounting screws (no photo as my phone camera button snapped off when taking the last photo...new phone soon then.)
Pop everything back and Ta da! all done
WARNING I will post the following on another post for those who wont read a BV thread
when you open your glovebox fully to reveal the fuses DO NOT CLOSE THE CAR DOOR
the door pocked hits the lid of the lover glove box and....

one superglue fix to do...
amendment
I have had a friend whos blackvue wire shorted near the unit and proceded to melt the wires. the 5 amp fuse did not blow..I suggest a quick blow fuse. Also wthe use of a glassfibre silicone sleeve over the cable for safety. It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

Followed your instructions at the weekend to wire my camera lead into a permanent live, dead easy following the photos although I used an 'add a fuse' instead of butchering one Cheers Ian
