D4 Navigation Map Updates
Just wondering - how many of us have successfully managed to have the D4 Navigation system updated (maps) at service time? And how much extra have you had to pay or is it a case of it is supposed to be downloaded whilst everything else is being done during the service time?2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

I was told that to upgrade the maps, you've got to buy them first. It's not part of the standard "software upgrade" packages that might be downloaded to your car during the service.

I've heard so many differing theories on this that I am curious to see what others have been told! My supplying dealer reckoned that it was going to be a free download, that could be done whilst the Testbook was plugged into the car, therefore free of charge. But that was when the D4 was only just out and I have a different servicing dealer because I have changed countries since purchase. Here in Ireland none of the dealers seem to know what to do....2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

It's not a free upgrade, you buy a code from Navteq through the dealer

Just to clarify .... I had a complete new map installed ... Not an update of a previous map .
You can check on your touch screen if there are updates needed ( for your region ) ... God knows how it knows you need an update though !!!G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Any issues with the site let me know!
the latest map set discs have just this past week been issued to the dealers
it is a "customer paid" update, just like the update discs
you request from the dealer that you would like the new map sets and we use your chassis number to order a unique code from navteq which is used with our box of tricks to update the map sets on your HDD
also, unlike before you can now have all maps on your HDD, where previous only Western or Eastern were visibleTLO has left the building.......
I no longer work for a Landrover Dealer

Thanks for that - how long does the update take to download/install once code is activated?
And what is the official LR/Navteq price for that code in the UK?2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Partially, yes! Remember - I'm not in the UK....... and no garage over here seems to be able to give me a straight answer about how the updates are done. One dealer did come up with something but has since started dragging heels in terms of actually "having the correct machine with which to do the job available at the garage"!
So by checking out the situation as well as the costs in the UK I am hoping to be able to shed some light on the situation over here, especially as more of the 2012 D4's seem to be coming on with Navigation as standard at the moment....2016 Discovery 4 Commercial
