Well I own a D4 but it’s been in the dealership waiting for a new steering lock module and it’s on back order, but as I have lr extended warranty they have given me a defender 110 3ltr as I needed a tow bar for towing the tin hut , this is my comparison of the two the new defender is very nice indeed and tows very well, but the downside is I can’t put my dog crate in the boot as too narrow the fuel economy towing is no better then my discovery, it as grown on me but I can’t wait to get my D4 back it as so much more room inside and suits my needs so much better than the defender,

The rear trunk space in a disco 4 is significantly larger than the new defender! D4 well maintained gives you great fuel economy and less electrical gremlins than the new defender! Discovery 4

Take the value you would lose on the Defender the moment you drive it off the forecourt then work out what you could do on a D4 with it. Between 10-20% in the 1st year anyway.
Then add the insurance. A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

I miss the practicality of the D4 but love the way my Defender drives.

Yes I agree it is a lovely machine to drive I have had it almost a month as a loan car, as for the fuel economy I tow a 2 ton Adria caravan and the D4 is fully loaded and we go to lake Garda and the south of France every year so personally I don’t care About the fuel economy it was just a comparison, but for my needs the D4 wins out right, such a shame they didn’t continue production or put the 3.6 v8 in them
