Are D4 "Quirks" same as the D3? |
|
Having lost a D3 to pesky thieves and ordered a new D4 my feeble mind is thinking about what quirks carry over. Does anyone know:
1. How to do a "soft" reset (since no key, can't do "key on, key off 10 times")?
2. Is the hard reset (battery disconnect, wait and short connectors) the same?
3. EPB emergency disengage the same?
4. Fuel cap release fix when cable disengaged the same?
5. Same 10 second hold of centre button to cause inside light to go off/back on?
If anyone can think of any other D3 "quirks" please add to the list. I keep a little book in the glove box (thank goodness for word processors and electronic copies of documents as the booklet was burned with the D3) with these helpful hints for my various blonde female drivers, and therefore need all the specifics available to keep them from managing to cause a major short.
Alas, I've no hurry as delivery isn't until April (hopefully it doesn't sail via Somalia). Jim Dowell - D4 HSE TDi, 12,000 hydraulic winch & hidden winch mount, MTRs, TyreDog, Traxide 2 x aux battery system, fixed air compressor, Dolium roof rack, MitchHitch.

Like switching of the Event Tracking Data Recorder if you dont want "big brother" to store info to your sat navs HD.
The interior light has the same function as the D3.
The Safety Belt Minder in Instrument Pack Configuration should be able to be turned of but it may be diagnostic only.

EPB release is the same,
fuel filler cap release looks to be the same but didn't test it,
interior lights - hold centre button for 3 seconds,
seat belt no-ding is the same (did this at the dealers & surprised the salesman).

How do you put ignition on? Just by having the key close? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Mine doesn't seem to have an accessories setting, going directly to ignition if foot not on brake pedal. It also wont start 1st time most mornings so maybe it needs to be looked at.

Accessories only, then pre-heat would be useful - I too go straight to 'ready to start' on a single press.
What I'd also like is turn engine off but not accessories, e,g. when you pull up and just want to finish listening to something on the radio. Our 5 series has push button start/stop but the accessory position is triggered by putting a key (fob) in a slot - which also means no worries about where the key is!

"When all else fails, read the manual", so I did. There is no accessories setting, but the radio can be turned on even with the ignition off.

Does anyone know if the EPB system on the D4 is the same as the D3? Also, what is the emergency release of the EPB on the D4 - can't find anything about this in the book. Wondering if one can get away with not using the EPB and just rely on the automatic gearbox lock when in park mode? Land Rover Series IIA 1967

Lift the cup-holders out to access the cable.
