D4 REAR pump timing belt change
I've just bought an 8 year old D4.
The timing belts haven't been changed.
I'm currently doing the front main Cam timing belt.
Has anyone any advice on changing the rear injection pump timing belt?
I've got the locking tool for the rear pump belt, but I can't say that I've done one on this engine.
Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated tiaEGR pipes blocked & refitted.

Cruise & Audio controls fitted.
Remote start FBH.
New belts & Oil pump upgrade.
Full length roof bars.

Thanks DM, I've got the lock tool, it's a round thing, as in the photo.
I haven't a clue where it fits. But I'll figure it out.
One last question, is it best to do the rear belt with the engine still locked at the front with both Cams & Fly wheel? Or doesn't it matter - if you are locking the rear Pump?
Thanks ever so much for your help

You don’t need the locking tool for the rear belt on a D4, just use the marks on the belt, done a few dozen rear belts on the D4 and never used the locking tool.

Thanks Flack.
I've done my old D3 2.7 tdv6.
But folk are saying that the D4 3.0 sdv6 are different & has to be locked to preserve the pump timing.

Flack's point is the belt has indicators on it as to where it needs to meet up with the cam and pump so you don't need to lock it per say, just make sure you put it back so everything lines up. Yes the D4 is timed, but the marks on the two gears and belt allow you to get the timing right.

Hi, I did my D4 front and rear belts last year and the best tip I can give you is to tie a piece of string to every tool you use and attach it to your wrist, anything dropped will probably never be seen again!!

Great tip! I might actually give that a try!
I only loosened the tensioner with a spanner on my old D3 2.7
And released the tensioner holder.
But I will bare this in mind thanks 😊EGR pipes blocked & refitted.
