D4 Shot Battery - Advice Required

SWMBO calls this morning whilst I'm in London to say the D4 won't start...... Q call to Landrover Assist. No one available today we'll send the AA.

Fair enough AA arrive diagnose battery shot little print out reports volts at 12.68 measured 745 sae, rating 950 sae.

Battery is marked as follows

Landrover
12V 90ah
RC 150 Mins
950 Amps (sae)
7H42-10655-EA
YGD500130

So as far as I can tell its below what it needs to be but I'm open to being advised otherwise. I've only had one low battery warning and I have the car up skiing in pretty cold temps and It was fine. As I understand it's an original battery so if I'm looking at a new battery is it worth going with a AGM type battery or a straight replacement Varta battery? Will I need anything changed on the car to have an AGM installed?

If I go the AGM route can anyone suggest a good aftermarket battery as I don't really want to pay dealer inflated prices.

Cheers
Paul

Changing the non agm to agm was one of the best things I've done on the D4. I went for the Bosch S5A model, I think the size is 017.
You are supposed to 'tell' the car it now has an agm battery fitted. I haven't (because its still not clear using the IID tool which setting you have to pick) and all has been well, well much better actually because all the battery issues I was having previously went away (due to lots of short journeys rather than a shot original battery).

Run the car today on my normal commute 20ish miles in and 20ish home. Looking at the secret menu steady 14.6 14.7 even if its not that accurate it was consistent. Started fine in the morning and at night when I left. Going to give it a charge over the weekend to be sure. Only thing was the timed climate was on through the week. Would this cause the battery to give out if its on the edge of giving up anyway?

My experience was that it was using remote climate that really showed up the non agm battery weakness. 20 miles each way daily is nowhere near enough to replenish daily use of remote climate, so over time..........

Agm battery accepts charge faster so better chance of keeping charged on short runs. My run is 12 miles each way. If I use remote climate every day at this time of year I still have to fully recharge with a charger every two weeks. With the non agm, typically I didn't make it to the of of the week with remote climate without getting the charger out.
