D4 spares for expedition

Going on a trip in July, and will be a day or so from nearest civilisation, maybe 2 from a decent garage, and in tricky locations where recovery is not impossible but not simple either.

Wondering what spares it's sensible to take. Will have recovery cover, fwiw.

Duck tape, WD40, toolkit, IIDtool, multimeter, sat phone.

Fuel filter? belts? anything else?

thanks!

Bulbs, fuses - tick
Compressor - being ordered.
What tyre gunk do you recommend?
Apart blades - good call tho not critical
Brake switch - do Advanced factors do one? And is there a list of symptoms that a dodgy one causes?

And is bleeding the fuel system easy - is there a howto on here?

It's just kinda collected over the years, much of it bargains from here, eBay or advanced factors.
I'd much rather have it all with me than have days shaved off the trip waiting for parts to be delivered etc. Middle row of seats out and it all fits there, so actually is weight saving Rolling with laughter

Funny - I am off to pyrenees in Sept and after looking at CDS list was left thinking holy crap, i don't have enough stuff. Worse still, I would not know how to use most of the stuff on the list. Glad grzesiul was in the same boat - testing karma very funny. It is a landrover after all great response from CDS.

There was once a thread on here about doing a basic mechanics course and I think one of the sponsors was going to come down from scotland. I don't think it went anywhere though. Would be good to do, issues like changing disc brakes, basic service etc.
D3 Java Black 57 Plate SE, Night Breakers, Grabber ATs, Sidelight LEDs and best of all - Narpy torch. loads more to buy.

D4 61 plate XS (12Mod Year)
BabyRRR - gone and completely forgotten

At the end of the day, you do what you're comfortable with. I'd rather repair it at the roadside or on a campsite and crack on, the next person prefers to us the AA/ RAC and a local garage. I go with just me and a copilot, I couldn't take all that gear if I had SWMBO and kids with us, so would rely on garage services, just adapt the kit to the trip that you're making Thumbs Up

I'd be up for paying for a field mechanics course - a get-you-home one for a Disco, essentially. Ideally, in the next 6 weeks Mr. Green

When I took a LandCruiser round Oz I had enough spares to fix most stuff that broke, and knew how to fix most of it, but that was a simpler vehicle - and I wasn't tested on it in earnest, either.....

But I think the basics are now covered - basic spares for comfort (wipers, bulbs) (and EU compliance Very Happy ), some key stuff (brake switch, IID tool, fuel filter, oil, fluids), and anything else cheap enough or lying around that you know how to use. Anything more serious is probably going to require a tow - so recovery assistance and some bendy plastic. I'd add sat phone in there, so as to be able to get said assistance, but stout walking boots would probably do it too Laughing
