Thanks Bodsy!
It looks pretty easy. I wonder why LR messed the existing space
To me it is clear now, I will definitelly go for the original D3 solution with the D Traxide kit in my brother's new D4. I do not find the extra battery taking up the boot space (and not having it there when you suddenly need it) too attractive. D3 LE James Cook, 2,7 TDV6 auto

Tim
Is there any other problem, except for the need of relocation of several bits and pieces, to use the D3 kit in D4? Are the 2nd battery mounts still in place? D3 LE James Cook, 2,7 TDV6 auto

Hi StepanT, the same battery mounts are still in place and I now have more D4 customers opting to rearrange the auxiliary battery compartment rather than put the battery in the rear cargo area. 2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

Hi,
did you (or someone else) install the traxide kit?
Is there an other electrical solution for connecting the second battery? Probably an original Land Rover part number for the D3 kit?

Hi,
I contacted Tim - he also has a new 160A version. Does anybody install it already?

Hi,
Has anyone installed the traxide kit (or another one) in a 2012 discovery with the 8-speed box...
I am concerned that the new charging system is giving problems with it, any info??

Not yet,
Dealer says its a no go due to the new energy saving alternator. A dual battery kit would void warranty and damage electronics... BS in my opinion, but you never know....

BS from dealer. But some dual battery systems wont work.
Traxside kit is one kit which will work with the D4, Tim worked with LR Oz to devlop it and he knows how the D4 system works.
If you are unsure PM 'drivesafe' and ask.
Any modification cannot 'void warranty'. Only if they can prove it was what caused the failure even then they can only refuse warranty for that claim. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Thanks caverD3.
Hi JAB, I’m not sure of the laws in your country but in most cases, if an accessory is an “Add-On†and does not in any way, alter the vehicle, then it can be fitted without voiding the new vehicle warranty.
There is some confusion here in Australia where some dual battery systems are effecting the operation of the D4, BUT these dual battery systems require the wiring in the D4 to be altered and this is where the problems arise.
The Traxide kits are an add-on and do not alter the wiring or the operation of the D4.
A tip for anyone adding any form of after market electrics and/or electronics.
DO NOT pick up your negative feed at the cranking battery’s negative terminal. It MUST be earthed elsewhere in the D4. 2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7
