D4 Wiper Blades
Which way to go?
Genuine LR blades - £49.50 inc p/p
Lucas blades that look exactly like genuine items - £19.99 inc p/p
Do Lucas make LR blades?
I have an issue with a knocking noise with the drivers blade at the top of the sweep, I note other people have mentioned this on the forum. I've tried various non-OE makes with no improvement, do I just bite the bullet and pay the price for OE???Nick

Don't try the Michelin ones......they are flimsy, break & you could damage you screen
The Bosch ones to me seem to be the least click-clack noisy
I haven't yet to try Valeo....the sponsors on here do them....maybe worth a try
Lucas aren't as a company in existence anymore.....after the Varity farce of a "merger" the remnants after the late 90's implosion of the business mainly became Dephi or a TRW company.......they "Lucas" branded but its just a brand name right now
The original Lucas brand & UK production factory for wipers was "Trico"
I believe the wipers for LR discos are some checkoslavakian maker (or that's what's written on the packet)....,they are crap........"Clickety-Clack"
......there is one pus point for these though ....they keep you awake on long journeysBREXIT - done properly.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I've tried the Valeo one's(silencio). They're worse than the Bosch ones for clacking, I just use them for the passenger side now

No idea I'll have to get back to you on that, but what I do know is that I bought them on recommendations that they wouldn't knock.. And they diid.... The only ones I haven't tied is the Michelin ..but BLfarahh put me off them... When I bought the car there're was no knock, I've still got that wiper somewhere hidden in the depths of my garage .. I'll have to dig it out and do some deeper investigation

to put on 22" for the Passenger & 23" for the drivers side...
this takes out a band of unwiped screen at the top.
Way back it was suggested that you could twist the arm with a big spanner to overcome the possibility
of the arm being wrong....which way you twisted it I just dont know & it seems a bit extreme.
The Bosch ones to me are the safe bet.
One big factor is the screen surface itself... have cleaned mine with Barkeepers friend to get rid of the www that seem to end up there after car washing...this helps
I have recently started to use Wurth products..
they have an active glass cleaner that is very very good
Also a windscreen washer additive that seems to improve things bit further tooBREXIT - done properly.

Ok after taking all advice into account I thought I'd try the 'Lucas' items.
Bought from MPS Trading who do masses of LR stuff.
Watch this space to see how we get on, the arm maybe next if this doesn't work.
Thanks all Nick

Could the knocking noise be the drivers side wiper hitting the side of the A pillar at the end of the stroke?Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

I had this knocking problem as well on my D4, it drove shmbo round the bend too!
Had total success by using the adjustable spanner method and twisting the flat bar of the arm away from the screen a bit. A bit daunting agreed, but on the second bend attempt noise totally gone.
