D4 Xenon Headlights – auto levelling?

I want to upgrade my D4/ 2015 from Halogen to Xenon. I now have two questions on this.
I heard that the "NORMAL" factory installed Xenon headlights (not the adaptive ones) have a self-levelling function, which you can see when the engine is turned on (and lights are on). It is a quick up and down. Can anyone with MY >2014 and having factory installed non AFS Xenon headlights confirm this up and down happens when engine is turned on?

Did anyone do the upgrade from Halogen to non AFS Xenon and can confirm that the levelling (up and down) also works in this case works?
Thanks

The vehicle ( and consequently the lights) is levelled by the air suspension, the beam movement on start up is part of its self check function

But why does it have an up / down functionality if it’s not used?

None AFS doesn’t do it, I’ve had two, a D3 and at present a D4 both HSE with xenon as standard and neither do it, they have no need to do it, AFS only do it to centralise.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

@M3DPO
Does your D4 have AFS or normal Xenon?

My D3 had AFS and also only did right and left...

None AFS, your informant may be getting mistaken with the high energised spark when the xenons are first switched on, this only happens when the CCF has been set to xenons, it is also the reason xenons flicker when they have been fitted after market without the CCF being changed to xenon.
Xenon is a gas, the gas has to be ignited for the lamps to work, this is why a high charge is sent to the lamps when they are switched on, it is also a reason for halogen bulbs blowing prematurely if the CCF is set to xenon and halogen lamps are being used. None AFS lamps do not move, only the dip shutter moves when dip or full beam is selected.
AFS can be fitted and on a HSE the cornering lamps will work if set on in CCF, cornering lamps can be made to work on none AFS with lamp modifications albeit not quite as good as AFS Thumbs Up

once fitted to the vehicle it must have headlamp cleaning and self-levelling (which can be for the headlamp or can be in the vehicle suspension - some expensive estate cars have “self-levelling suspension” and that is adequate). Also the dipped beam must stay on with the main beam

It’s an interesting read if you want to read the whole publication. It says that HID/Xenon etc aren’t strictly legal in the U.K. but as the EU dictate the U.K. must follow type approval, we must allow their use. Hence why after market kits are not legal unless type approved by a know manufacture.

@M3DPO: thank you. Very helpful!

@M3bobby: very interesting. Thanks.

I guess I’ll go for AFS to also have the cornering lamps by indicator lever (tried already and worked after enabling with IID) and take the adaptive part as a potential project.
