Do D4's suffer similar cam belt tensioner issues to D3's ?

Hi,

I'm serious considering upgrading my D3 to a D4 and working out running costs etc. MY D3 had a new cam belt before I purchased 2 years ago and still have years of life. If I enter the world of D4 changes are anything I my budget will likely need the belts changed in the next two years.

Do the 3.0 engines in the D4 have similar issues to the D3 with broken tensioners following cam belt change or have these issues been resolved on this unit?

Any ideas of dealer costs to do a D4 Cambelt and rear Fuel pump belts on a D4 ?

Thanks

From what I've read on the forum it's an engine issue not a model issue. I assume your referring to the tensioner breaking the oil casing. I believe engines from 2007 on (D3 or D4) suffer the same problem, not sure what model year it was cleared up. But do a search on the site for engine issues.

Not sure about new 3 litre engines

Thanks DiscoZack

I've met Bodsy when he did some updates to my D3 and he told me all about the tensioner issues. My 2006 D3 doesn't have the issue thankfully.

I did a search on the D4 forum before posting but all I could find related to D3's hence my post.

Not aware of any tensioner issues. LR when aware of the issue put a fix in place and I do jot suspect they would go backwards for the 3.o engine.
