Hello All,
I have had a d2, d3, rrs and l322 ffrr and have used my IID on all of them (except the d2 where I had a nanocom).
I have been waiting for GAP to support the D5, but there is still no news.
In the meantime, I have read that on the D5 LR have write protected the ccf.
Does anyone know if that is correct, and if GAP (or any other for that matter) will manage ever manage to get the IID tool working with the D5?
Any opinions appreciated.
Nick

Yes it is protected, will anyone beat the protection, yes I am sure they will but at the moment there probably isn't enough on the road for someone to spend the time and money to beat the protection but I am sure it will come MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

As Russell above, but I can’t see it will be developed, the demand is likely to be too low.
People that buy a D5 normally buy exactly what they want to start with.

I’m assuming that the D5 has moved most of its electrical systems from Canbus to Flexray.
I’m not sure it operates in the same way Owner of a 2010 Discovery 4 XS.
Plus a Mitsubishi Outlander (don’t ask...)

I have read rumors that there are now CCF editors available for the D5, but I have not seen it in use.
Someone on the D5 Forum claims to have used it, but I have not had any feedback on how effective it was.
I have also seen this for sale on ebay, and I contacted the seller to ask if it worked for the D5, and the seller said that he has several clients that have used it successfully on the D5.
I then contacted GAP to ask if they knew anything about this, and they don't seem to be aware of it at all.
IF the CCF editors DO work, then I find it rather surprising that GAP are not aware of it, as it would mean that they have fallen behind.
I am also surprised that LR developed a whole new system for the D5, and then used something ELSE for the new Defender.
My understanding was that the D5 was actually based on the latest gen RRS, which itself is "based" on the latest FFRR, but these two are both covered by the IID, so I really don't understand what LR and GAP are doing.

Whilst they are all on the same platform (D7u) the canbus system is too slow and the majority of the system for Discovery and Defender were changing, with FfRR and RRS following. The newer Rangies will be on a new platform as far as I recall. I remember some systems, namely the ZF gearbox had to stay on canbus Owner of a 2010 Discovery 4 XS.
