I have heard comments D5 is wider than D4 and certainly would not want that on my wish list, 1-2 inches narrower and a littler longer would suit me.

Have barely passed through some gates and bridges off road in D4, also a little rounder myself now and find squeezing in and out off of doors in tight car parking spaces a pia Sad

Load space is gonna be hard one to compare and needs comparing to your real world needs rather than volume or space measuments as its a weird shape changing as you get higher up. After spending 40mins testing the load space it is not as good as the D4 for my needs. It all depends on what load your carrying, it will meet most families needs no problem at all Thumbs Up

Just looking at that rear load piccy makes me ask again why did they put that indent in rather than a large sized pocket / bin like on D1 D2, so much more handy storage, with little or no extra cost

Have I mentioned D4 V6 Diesel figures

130 mph
0-60 7.7 seconds.

Not too shabby

This is typical of what needs to go in the back of mine, from time to time:

You can see why tall and square shaped are top of the list.

Since the early 90's, I've watched many, many practical estates downgraded to curvy lifestyle choices and had to move on and find something new.

Would of thought D4 quiet capable of 130 mph if not limited, though would still be a little slower on 0-60. Thumbs Up

Cannot recall more than a couple of times getting near to 100 in a D4, must be getting old Sad

Was limited to 112 mph for safety reasons.
Shape caused possible problems with crosswind.

Wonder how better the D5 will cruise at 70/80 mph?
Especially as it lowers itself at 60mph.

Laughing that's the problem not an advantage!

Luckily, I was able to take all of the work kit I usually carry in my D4 and play tetris as I attempted to make the D5 work for me in the showroom (I really wanted it too). Bottom line is it doesn't fit... not even close, and any number of measurements won't change that fact.

Clever marketing people will tell you that there is greater volume (great if you're carrying gas) or that the width is wider when the tailgate is open, but you can't get around the fact that every angle on the sides and rear now slope inwards. This severely restricts the usable space while leaving the exterior dimensions significantly larger. That's the opposite of what I'd call an efficient modern design?

Obviously, this won't effect the vast majority of users, or anyone carrying loose liquid. Rolling with laughter

Just my opinion. Why would you want to,

5. Hold off road height at 45mph plus? Seems excessive.

When driving along a beach, or on a dirt road with a grassy hump in the middle, you often want to drive at more than 45 mph where its safe to do so. The beaches around me have an 80 km/h (55mph) speed limit and are like highways. Its very frustrating to have to drive at <50 km/h or risk the suspension lowering and bottoming out whilst the Toyotas and Nissans power past at 80+ km/h.

The D5 will stay in off road height at 50mph, according to the handbook.

50 mph! That is a huge improvement! Its obvious that LR have listened to their aussie customers and upped the speed at which the car lowers. Top marks for that!

I've had some tense moments going through narrow gateways in the Lake District and on Exmoor. I honestly don't think I'd have made it through if the D3/4 had been 1-2 inches wider.
