DA polishers
Anyone got a DA polisher they would recomend, any one got any thoughts on using one, anyone got any special deals currently for purchasing DA polishers?

We used to have a member "JKP" who could supply all the materials and also gave good advice, definately miss his contributions.

I have a Meguiers DA, but the second version of it, but there are others just as good like the DAS6 etc
I have used the foam pads but I moved over too the Meguiers da Microfibre polishing system and it is so much better, results are much faster to achieve, as if you are using a rotory polisher (which are much riskier to use)
one of these then bought the FESTOOL orbital sander polisher
it uses a foam pad that has a "waffle" face that prevents "holograms"
these pads do the business...with polishes or compounds
maybe there is a source of waffle pads for the DA machine ?BREXIT - done properly.

I have just bought the DAS-6 PRO Dual Action Polisher - Menzerna Intro. Kit from clean your car and it seems to work for me (less chance of rubbing through the paint ) the pro one is a 850w motor and the black one is only 550w I think ,the only competition against the pro is the Meguiars G220 v2 (found on the internet) look them up on youtube to see people working the da polishers

I have a couple of the Das-4's, use the Sonax pads for application and basic buffing then a couple of different lake country for sealant/ wax application
For polish I use the Menzerna Power Finish (PO203S)Mark

Hello! Long time no post.
I have a Kestrel DA6 bought after reading many reviews about 18 months ago. Although described as entry level it does the job very well. They are currently going for around the £60 mark on a certain auction site.
I use the Megs pads with it. Stay away from the smaller pads too easy to damage your car, a small slip left a rather nice line on the side skirt and two hours of polishing out by hand!

PS Still haven't got round to fitting those headrest screens - due work commitments abroad. Think I'm gonna to have pay some one to do the job!!

Im after a DA polisher, has anybody got any advice as to which polisher and also type of pads to use and any general tips for a newbie, I've heard about polishes and glazes but don't have a clue what they are and when to use them
Realising this is a relatively old thread, have things moved on or are things still the same?
Have we any detailing experts here that can offer advice?

I have the DAS-6 polisher too. However, progress was too slow with a DA so I bit the bullet and bought a rotary, also when I had my VW it had extremely tough paint so the DA couldn't cut the mustard!
I use Chemical Guys Hex Logic pads with 3M polish, things have probably come on a bit since I bought my gear though!
These results were achieved using my DA last year.....

I've been a member on there for a while, I'm not even really into detailing but you can get lost for days on that forum.
You may stumble on thread where a guy is doing the full works on a Ferrari F40/F50 (can't remember which). He had to be so carefull because he'd been informed what some of the parts would cost to replace.
He is a proper pro though, his detailing bay is all enclosed with loads of lighting and central heating.IID PRO

There is a forum section Detailing Guide, in there you will find loads of "how to" guides.
The one thing to remember is there are people on there who spend 5-10hours a week detailing their own cars and that may be a Golf or something similar, a D3/D4 is a much bigger beast.
I think the other thing to remember with regards to polishers, the term "paint correction" seems to be used. So basically you get a car, get it looking right then keep it topped up, you shouldn't be needing the polisher every week unless you are topping up a wax.
I bought a DAS-6 PRO DA polisher kit from cleanyourcar and I have to say I really enjoyed going over my old D2 but even with the polisher it was hard graft and a whole day.
The products they can be a very personal thing but many of they guys use different products depending on car colour.
There were things I'd never used before looking on there, snowfoam lance,Iron-X(you will have read loads about it on D3), clay bars(you would not believe the difference it makes even on a freshly washed car),wheel sealer(the wheels just wash/clean for weeks after)
If it's going to become a regular thing then a quality pressure washer is worth having, the baby Kranzles are amazing and built to run for 6-7 hours a day so you will never need to buy another.Downside is they cost £400-500.
My best mate went through the cycle of buying the cheap Karchers with "I'll buy a new one when it breaks", he's got a Kranzle now and raves about it. The high end Karchers are very good to but the Kranzle certainly seems to be the one most popular with the detailing boys.
Once you get deep in you will the guys who are running filtered rainwater through the pressure washers because it contains no scale.IID PRO

Many thanks, I have an old jag and the paint needs refreshing, that's mainly why I was considering one. I was thinking to give it a go myself rather than give it to a detailer.
