Hi folks
Just picked up my new to me 55 plate SE from a non franchised dealer. I know i should have checked this before buying but i've now noticed the tyres don't match. One wheel has a nearly new wrangler HP but 3 of them have Kumho tyres with a 107 weight rating. I know from the wiki these are not recommended but are they officialy dangerous and make the car unroadworthy or uninsurable?
Just want to know if i can use both barrels on the dealer or if it's just tough luck and they are technically legal.
thanks
edit- tyres have a 108 rating. not 107 as i first said. still dodgy

Not legal
Handbook states the load index
17" 111
18" 112
19" 111
Take it back and demand 3 new Wranglers to match ..you insurance would be void if you had an accident ...any thing to get out of paying G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I'm not sure they would make it uninsurable, but getting an insurer to pay out in the event of an accident might be a different matter as the vehicle has tyres which do not comply with OEM standard of 111. A non franchised dealer are still obliged to provide a roadworthy vehicle and I think tyres not being correct spec would give you some grounds to challenge them! As Wiggs said. Tyres are NOT within spec. i suspect he may have got them off an RRS.
Even if LR change to the Aus tyre spec, that's still 109, so still under-rated. Bodsys Brake Bible

If you open the drivers door & look on the inside edge of the door, the weight rating and tyre pressures are listed there.
I hope this wasn't an LR dealer, but sounds like an Indi? Bodsys Brake Bible

Just noticed this thread, and went and checked mine
55 PLate TDV6 S, bought from Guy Salmon Coventry, one tyre is a Kumho 255/60/R18 108 H the rest are a mixture of Pirelli Pzero's and a Wrangler although these three are 112 Rated.
I guess the 108H is wrong, Have I recourse to the main dealer to get it replaced ??

108 is too low. depends how long you have had it and how many miles you have done as to whether you have any case against the delaer TBH I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Thanks for the quick replies.
It was an independent dealer who has a deal with the LR dealer along the road to sell the cars they dont want to retail. I think they didn't want mine on the grounds of mileage (48k). I did manage to notice it needed new brake pads and had a faulty window motor and these were fixed by the LR dealer before i collected the car. Can't believe i didn't look at the tyres? Lesson learned.
Don't know if i should start another topic but also had a "the suspension will raise when the system cools" warning. I had been playing about with it a bit. Is this normal if you're a bit over excited when you first realise you can make your car jump up and down. It seems to work fine now.

Bought the vehicle used from a main dealer on 20th Feb 2009, so is within the 3 month Select Warranty, overall mileage of vehicle is 36000
It is back there on Monday, to replace the seatbase under warranty so seems an ideal opprotunity to get them to change the tyre ??

Playing with the suspension height can cause the message you saw, let it cool down and all will be well, known issue, only cure is to go easy on changing height too often in too short a time I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

On the basis that it might need notifying inside 30 days of taking ownership, I would alert them to the tyre issue today, as you will otherwise be cutting it fine by Monday, would hate you to get stitched up by them when you could have got it sorted I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Have told the garage of my concerns. He will "get back to me".
It's a major pain as the garage is 30 miles from me and a to get to. tempted to get them replaced straight away at local tyre dealer and send them the bill. probably easier and less stress to let them sort it though.
driving is much more fun with the threat of a blowout and instant death at any time. hope the airbags work. Actually, the more i think about it i really should just get them done and send them the bill. will keep you posted
