Indeed so, however there is a huge difference between a casual jokey throw away comment that is admittedly in poor taste and an out and out racist slur that is meant to belittle and cause offence.
I'm sure DB's comments were in jest and as far too often happens, some faceless person has decided there could possibly be the slightest chance that racist overtones could be applied and therefore, somebody, somewhere, might be offended so he should be taken to task over something he never meant nor intended.
