Hi All
So I have returned to France with the beast
2008 Discovery 3 XS 102,000 miles, manual
Looking for some advice
I have covered 620 miles, prior to the journey when I worked out how to find it the beast was doing 29.5 MPG, at the end of my journey now showing 31.8 MPG
I am happy with this but being new to the Discovery I would like to ask, is that about right
A little incident after doing about 50 Miles in France 3 lights on the dash illuminated , all orange
So we pulled over and checked the handbook and from the picture the handbook said a suspension fault , the book also said the vehicle was safe to drive
So we started up and set off again , the lights went out, after about 15 mins they came back on and I ignored them, after about 120 miles we stopped for a break when we started up no lights, but again 15 mins later they came on
I did see a message lowered suspension and the ride was much stiffer
As I see it the car runs on a cushion of air I suspect when lowered there is no cushion, hence the stiff ride
So later we have another break this time the lights stayed off for the rest of the journey home
We did have a rainy period at the time they first came on, but the end of the journey was much worse weather wise
So where should I start with this, I dont want it to happen again
Thank You for any advice given

You need to read the fault codes or get someone to do it for you. Otherwise you're just guessing... 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Reading codes is the first thing but it does sound like connector problems. There where two locations for the connectors for the air system. Early vehicles the connector was behind the LH side wheel arch cover, on later vehicles the connector was behind the LH headlight. Check and clean these connectors as they affect the compressor. Compressor is powered via a relay and a fuse in the the battery fuse box, check that the fuse is not blown - some had 60 amp fuse whilst others had 70 amp fuse.

I guess you read these from the display, sadly not likely to be anywhere near accurate!
If you want to calculate accurate fuel consumption then "brimmed to brimmed" is more accurate, but is still distorted by the fact that the trip also over reads; this at least can be adjusted using your new code reader.
My manual (BAS Chip) D3 did 25.5 MPG over 86k miles calculated brim to brim.
Good luck.

Hi NJSS
It is not that far off
I filled up in the UK
102,600 miles on speedo
Next fill was
103,027 miles on speedo, 427 miles covered
I put in 62.5 litres, this equals 13.75 gals
427 divided by 13.75 = 31.054 miles per gallon 2008 Discovery 3 SX manual
