Dash noise / clunk
I've just started to get a clunk from the dash area when I go over bumps. For some reason the noise seems more frequent when turning right. It;s started to get really annoying.
The clunk seems to be coming from the centre of the dash but quite high up. I've taken the centre consoule out but the noise seems to be from the area behind where the Sat Nav screen would be on HSE models (It's only an S).
I can't work out what is behind that area. Looking at the shape of the engine bay I guess that the wiper linkages are in that area, but there must also be space for the centre speaker and the screen demisting vents.
Any ideas about what it might be and how I could stop it would be appreciated. (Before I take it to the dealers and the rip out the dash and make it all squeek.)

...is it definitely from the dash. When my ARB front bushes went, I just couldn't seem to place the sound - but the dealer went straight to it. Noticeable, but quiet clunk.2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

It sound like it's in the dash (or just behind it) but of couse sounds do travel and I'm not always good at working out where they come from so it could easily be the ARB bushes.
if the steering rack is mounted on the bulkhead, it could be the mounting coming loose?

I took the car into the dealer this morning for road test ith the workshop supervisor. Apparantly they have had a couple of D3s with similar clunks from the dash.
He tells me that the dash is mounted on steel dowels (fixed to the bulkhead) and the flexing of the dash mounts on the dowels is the cause of the clunk.
It is now booked in for two days so that they can progressively strip the dash and fix it.
Hopefully it will make it better not worse!

Dash clunk
Has this been successfully resolved? I'm living with a similar clunk in exactly the position you describe, dealer unable to diagnose / fix.

Yes it was fixed with the steel dowels being "insulated" - however be warned - taking the dash apart has created a whole load of other squeeks, cracks and movement which are almost as annoying as the original noise.
They did warn me that they would never be able to get the dash back in the same way as they can in the factory (the dash arrives in the factory fully built and is just put into the vehicle in one piece!)
Overall I'm not sure whether it was worth getting them to mess around with it.

I have the same dilemma, albeit a different problem. I have the "farting" dash problem. I know there is a TSB to fix it but again most of the dash has to come out..Duncan
