Dashboard Air vent
The air vent on the dashboard passenger side on my 2012 D4 has stopped working and as a result I think of the mechanism which connects the wheel on the dashboard and the flap within the vent having broken or become detached somehow. I have managed to now open the flap by pushing a screwdriver through from the front.
The vent is the one on the dashboard passenger side nearest the touchscreen
I believe the part number for it is AH22-01454-B
Does anyone know if this is the same as for the D3 as looking on Fleabay there are plenty shown for a D3 but not a D4. I also assume you can just replace the vent itself as you can on a D3 rather than by the unit complete with the fascia
I have seen a youtube video of how to take the fascia off and if I can source a replacement I will swap it out
Thanks for your help
Steve
PS you have probably gathered that I am bored during lockdown and am attempting to fix all the small things on my D4 which I would normally have left !

Thanks for the suggestions
The first two will not fit as they are end vents but the third one is the one I need
Will go and get it now and hopefully fitting will not be too much of an issue

Before I rip everything out does anyone know if it is possible to take out the facia with the vent nearest the touchscreen without taking out the centre console ?
It seems to me I have to remove the silver surround from around the radio controls and the grey piece under the screen
The photo shows the vent and facia I want to take out

yep i'm afraid you've got to take those bits off
you'll also need the centre console lifted to so you can prise trim out ... watch out for the trim clips pinging off - don't lose any!

Well new vent arrived yesterday and I am going to attempt to fit it tomorrow
Thanks for the link to the video
Does anyone know if you can take the trim piece holding the vent off without taking off the centre console
I have seen one video of someone doing this but wondered if it is possible to do it that way without damaging the fascia piece
Thanks

No, you need to take the centre bit out where the gear shift is.
I recently took mind apart to run a new cable for the cameras.
Didn't put the driver's vent back on 'closed' and now it wont shut. Inly noticed last week. Grr so have to take it off again.
Lift out the cup holder, remove the drip tray if fitted underneath (2 screws). I undid 2 more under the trim panel infront of the fridge but not sure they needed to come out. Then pull up and it will come off.
Pull it back a bit and pull off the vent trim with some force and listen to the clips drop. Once you get it off you will see why the vent panel wont come out with it in place
You need to remove the surrounds/top trims as I think the video shows before all this.
I lost a few clips to the 'void' but got all but one back. Best buy some more else it will rattle. In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Thanks for the reply and advice Rata
Do you know where you can get the clips from and or the part number for these.
I am hoping it will come off without losing any but given the comments I have seen it is unlikely I will succeed 😩
Thanks

FYC500040 is the part from Advanced Factors (site sponsor). Not cheap at 2.30 but better with "inittogether" code
I got some extra and some other items whilst I was shopping In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Firstly apologies for not updating progress earlier but having taken Rata's advice and ordered some clips it took Royal Mail over a week to deliver them first class.
It was a good job I waited as , as predicted, two of the four clips disappeared into the void never to be seen again ( and hopefully not heard rattling around)
Anyway other than the nervousness of pulling hard both on the centre console and the fascia with the vent in the job was pretty straightforward and completed in 40 minutes
