2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 XS Manual Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

Had a quick play with the sensors and a bit of card today, while I was doing an oil and filter change etc.

It is dead easy to trigger the wipers, but it is not so easy to trigger the lights without the wipers. I wonder if a tint might be better. It looks like there are 2 long horizontal sensors, and a smaller round one.

But then it could be my brain is playing up, as it wouldn't start when I'd done the service.......checked the diesel filter (thought maybe it was detecting no pressure at the engine or something), check the battery (slightly low but not worryingly so) Still no start. Checked I'd not knocked any connectors etc under the bonnet. Still no start. Then I knocked it out of gear (manual gearbox), started on the button Embarassed

light sensors are normally small and round.

turn the wiper switch to off.
cover the small round sensor.
wait 3 seconds or so, and see if the lights come on.
park car against a wall so its easy to see the lights.

I find it easy to trigger the light sensor by putting my hand over it.

Another option would be to fit a relay (or 2) behind the headlight switch.
