Hi All,
The front down pipe on my 55 plate MY06 non dpf disco is starting to leak, wondering about fitting a de cat pipe but many suppliers advise an engine re map "Might" be required.
Is this actually required and why, I know the cat provides some back pressure to the turbo, so removing should help gas flow?
I'm happy with general performance and MPG so just trying to limit costs were I can and spend on what is needed.
If a remap is required how much should that cost these days, I'm in the Derbyshire area.
Cheers

I de catted my D3 and fitted an Allisport IC. It was good but the remap mad it much much better. Smoother power delivery, sharper pick up and better torque curve.
I had a BAS remap specific to my car and set up.
Personally, if you're going down this route, I'd do it properly.
Also, don't remap for MPG. It's a fantasy - you'll never recoup the costs. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

I decatted my d3 and yes it was better but I seem to remember it absolutely stank of old diesel smell after. Really noticeable in traffic with the windows down. You remind me of a younger me, not much younger mind...perhaps even a little older!

Defiantly never had that. Had mine on for over 200,000 miles and the car is still going strong looking at the MOT history. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Hi, so reading between the lines, with a de cat pipe installed, a re map is not strictly necessary, it won't damage the engine, but a remap would be beneficial.
Just don't want to cause problems going forwards.
