Dead center in the steering
My LR Discovery 3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Aut. 2007 has developed a dead center in the steering when the steering wheel is centered. The play is about 2.Cm..... There are no abnormal sounds or vibrations, and the car drives completely straight if I let go of the steering wheel while driving. I drive on 1500 Km old/new 255/55 R19 Toyo Open Country ATIII (the play was also there before tire change) No spacers..!.... Any suggestions and/or "Quick fix"
Thanks in advance ....

Sounds like you need a new Lower Steering Column Shaft Part No LR071146.
Don't be tempted to save a few bucks and buy after market.
EDIT: obviously check for play in the column first.

Usually the lower steering column shaft is noisy and some mechanical slack are felt while turning the steering wheel...
check for play on the steering rack inner rod ends ( C & D )

Mine was picked up by the main dealership during its service with the most probable cause being the lower collapsible steering column. The lower end is a universal joint and this can become notchy and develop excess play.
Unfortunately in my case it is the steering rack A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
