|
My 'local' Cornish LR dealership has closed ..... what on earth do Key workers do now when it breaks / service / MOT?... I'm pretty sure (when I last checked) other dealers - Toyota and the like are still open...
Anyone experiencing similar? 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

Both our LR and BMW dealers contacted us advising they are closing. Both have made it clear they will do their best to support key workers and responders heres the bit from the LR dealer....
From Monday 30th March, we will provide appropriate support for servicing and repairs as required for key workers (defined by HM Government) and vehicles utilised in the national effort such as utilities, emergency services and distribution vehicles, etc. In addition, vulnerable customers who rely on their vehicle for food collection will also be supported where possible. If you fall into this category and need assistance then please contact us on customerservices@vertumotors.com. A phone number to call will also be available in due course. We are currently assessing which of our dealerships will provide this vital support in our network of 133 dealerships. MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

I wasn’t expecting this as well 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

From what I have been reading, most car dealers new and used, have had pretty much zero customers for the last 2 to 3 weeks, and many are close to financial collapse
Auction houses (cars) are closed.

Considering the financial commitment that the dealers in Truro and Exeter have made recently, I’m sure they were probably loathed to close but, a combination of nil customers, staff sickness and possibly even concern for the welfare of the workforce may have forced their hands.
At the start of this, County in Exeter wrote to be to say that they planned on continuing, but would offer a free collection and delivery service for those not willing to visit, now they’ve shut the workshop completely, so something must have happened. Perhaps an overwhelming number of service cancellations?
All very concerning for everyone involved.

Think the sudden spate of closures coincided with clarification that .gov would pay the 80%...
My Disco is also now locked in a dealers for the foreseeable Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Guy Salmon Stratford Upon Avon closing end of Oct 2020 |
|
I've just heard that my nearest LR dealer is closing in the next few days. Apparently they plan to open new premises on the outskirts of Coventry ( 20 miles or so) but not until 2023 which sounds a bit of a stretch. Is there a bigger picture I'm unaware of?
