Decisions decisions......

Right, choice of 2, both HSE -

2010/59 Nara 23k miles, 20" wheels, privacy, grand black wood

or for £2,605 more

2010/10 Stornoway 17K miles, privacy, grand black wood, side steps, rear entertainment.

The RSE doesn't bother me as it would most likely never be used so the question is, is a 10 plate opposed to a 59 and 6k miles worth £2605?

Depends on a few factors, one of which is how long do you intend to keep it? If you think, you'll chop it in in a year or so for a newer model, then the 10 plate will be more attractive to a buyer than the 59 I guess. If you are looking to keep it longer term, then save the difference and go for the cheaper one. On another point though, RSE is an advantage if you are trading in although, I think that may diminish the longer you keep the car. Mileage wise, not a huge difference there, especially over a couple of years ownership. Just MHO I ready to be proved wrong Smile

Either way, you're going to get a brilliant car!

Best,

Steve

That's a tough choice...but hey what a nice choice Thumbs Up

I have always liked Nara Bronze...looks classy IMHO

But after a Java Black D3 & now a Santorini Black D4 ....I've said my next would be Stornaway Thumbs Up

Whatever your choice you will have a BIG Mr. Green on your face

If your going to off road the 20" wheels won't be that practical, but they are probably worth a bit if you wanted to sell them. My vote would go for 59 plate, nice colour too. (Mines Stornaway)

The 10 plate would be more attractive to sell on, stornoway is a more appealing colour,

Have you test driven them, i found the 20" wheels gave a harder ride, when were last services done

Imo the 10 plate would be my choice
If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

I would go for the Stornoway on a 10 plate. Lower mileage, better colour (more popular), better extras... worth the extra cash imo.

Well, an interesting day! 110 miles to see the nara only to find it was more abused than used - stains to the seat, a few dings, chip in dashboard and a tear in the leather. Decided to leave it in favour of the Stornoway but on arrival there, with the intention of leaving a deposit after we'd thrashed the price a bit more, I noticed a dent and small crease in the leading edge of the bonnet. So, they're getting their dent man to have a go at it and see what he can do but alledgedly they haven't enough money in it to repaint the bonnet.

The saga continues.......

Looks good! Just a small issue of it being £10k over budget, however if he'll take a hit as it's probably the wrong colour/wrong time of year/not a popular model/no demand for that spec/you never get your money back on options*

I think if you look at auto trader and what cars of this spec are going for on dealer forecourts at the minute, you'll see that it's priced quite accurately. It's £12k off list with 8000 miles. If someone can get past the second hand bit (9 months) then its got to be a good buy for someone. There is some room for negotiation of course Wink

I was just taking the pi$$ out of the dealers mate, hence the tongue in cheek "*delete as appropriate (Reprinted by kind permission from the Land Rover Dealers Guide to Buying Cars and valuing Trade-ins)" perhaps I should have added a Wink ?

Nothing wrong with the car at all, a bargain for someone I'm sure but sadly £10k over my budget Sad

Yeah, sorry - I got that after I'd replied Embarassed No offence intended or taken. You are of course, absolutely right. The bull$it SOME people come out with for reasons to knock the price down defy belief! Rolling Eyes He couldn't drop 10K obviously but he knows that the art of the "Gentlemanly haggle" is alive and well Smile Appreciate budgets are always a factor and they always manage to never quite be enough ! LOL! What part of the Uk are you in fella? I know site sponsor Gazelliot is a dealer on here and very well respected. He may be able to help you?

Best,

No worries, likewise! What did make me laugh was last week when I rang about the Nara it had sold and when I asked why it was so much cheaper than other similar cars the dealer told me it's because it's a cr@p colour and nobody wants it. This week, after the sale had fallen through, guess what? Yes, it's now one of the best colours to have, so good in fact that Land Rover themselves chose it for the launch colour! (I know that is true by the way). Great to see spin is still alive and well!

Tell me about budgets never being enough! Mine has gone from £25k including my part ex to £25k plus my part ex, ending up at £25k plus my part ex plus a bit more Shocked Much as I'd love an MY12 with a twiddly gear knob and 8 speed box, I'm going to have to draw the line or my bank account would be looking decidely ill!

I'm up in Yorkshire so Gaz is quite away off, not that I wouldn't travel for the right car but I would prefer to stay somewhere close to home.

Cheers

Gerry
