Decisions, decisions (some advice most welcome!)

Hi All,

I've a 2005 Disco 3 SE 101,000 miles. Timing belt changed recently and a 'patchy' history.

It came with 3 months warranty which has now expired and I've just got a quote for £349 (I hope to get a friends and family deal to bring this down a touch).

Because of the mileage, the wear and tear option is not available so that is not an option. I've attached a pic of the coverage overview.

The million dollar question, is would this be worthwhile in the eyes of some experienced old D3 owners?

Are the things I hear that regularly go wrong generally covered with a solid warranty? Turbo disasters? EPB Actuator? Air Suspension?

Thanks!

M

Cheers Mikey,

Do you think the money saved not paying for one would be better spent in a pot for the inevitable non mechanical breakdowns?

I'm not into warranties in any other aspects of life but don't understand enough about what they'll cover and what they'll dodge to make an informed decision!

Cheers

I'd imagine most warranty companies cover a similar variety of things is that fair to say?

There's no mention of maximum claim or total claim but I guess you get them when you're firming up the deal.

Or consider AA Breakdown Repair cover (guess other Breakdown companies do something similar) - about £80 pa, pays out £500 per claim with a max (I think) of 6 claims pa. Mileage / age not relevant I believe

Not a huge amount and you have to be recovered to be able to claim, but they do have a good record of paying out (me included last year) and it will help?

I guess that's the line they can hide behind.

Excuse my naivety with warranties but I assume that some of the stuff that I suspect might need attention in the future will not be covered due to this.

Will look at the AA as I'm already a member so might have that service already.

Cheers folks.
