Deed Done - D4 Commercial Ordered |
|
I've finally made the move from my old Defender TD5 to a D4 Commercial SDV6. Should take delivery early Sept.
Spec'ed it up HSE with:
Bournville Metallic
Almond/Arabica
Commercial Convenience and Lux Packs
Xenons
Colour Coded Arches
Park Heating Remote
Electric seats etc.
I've been following some of the comments on here regarding the removal of the plastic side panels, re-instating the rear electric windows and adding rear seats. All jobs I'd like to get done at somepoint. Any tips or photo's about to go about this would be greatfully appreciated.

So even in the UK it is back to a three month waiting list again! As it was when mine was ordered, except it took longer than planned to arrive!

That's interesting! The spreadsheet I gave the salesman earlier this week had almond/arabica leather listed on my required options, but the order confirmation he emailed me this morning to sign had ebony black. No wonder he didn't reply to my emails and phone calls today requesting an updated order with the correct interior colour!

If you buy an HSE, it will not be registered on the V5 as a commercial. This can NEVER be changed, even if you "retro" make it into a commercial. You will therefore pay tax on it as a car, not a commercial. SIMPLES (not) 8)

You can upgrade the Navigation to Premium Navigation, costs a bit though but it is there in the options list somewhere.... 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

It is also significantly cheaper to spec up a UK Commercial with all the extras than buy a HSE.... and you can claim the VAT back! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Your right, it is very expensive... The frustrating thing is, you can spec it to the XS level by going for the Luxury pack...but then if you want to get premium, they want to charge you another £1500-£2k... however, if you ere buying an XS, the same upgrade would only cost you about £450...
Its a real con....
I would still love a commercial D4 though instead of my navara V6

Ah!
Reading the list carefully reveals that the price quoted for the Navigation Upgrade actually includes the basic Navigation pack (it must do, look at the prices of the two options!). So in that case it's a booboo on the list. I suspect by talking to a competent dealer you will only pay a few hundred, which is all I paid when I got mine. 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Similar problem here to be honest, if I was in the market for a new D4 Commercial I'd be going up to Northern Ireland almost certainly!
That said, I often deal with a franchised dealer in Fermanagh who always seem to know exactly what they are talking about, long way from you I know but maybe worth the journey.
My current vehicle came from a franchised dealer in Swansea, again no problems there though they are one of the smaller dealers.... 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Nene do new conversions from hse , can claim the vat back and it will then be registered as a commercial also.

Doubt it very, very much.
If it leaves the factory, then that's the tax category that it retains for life...
@ qwick... I know you have issues with the group company but Martin Altenbach at Marshalls of Bedford is worth speaking to... D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!
