Defender 19" wheels with 255/65/19 Continental Cross Contact |
|
Like several people, I've spotted several sets of Defender wheels listed with (virtually) brand new Continental Cross Contact 255/65/19 tyres. I've got a 2016 Landmark D4 with 255/55/19 which I like - almost entirely used on road, often towing a Ifor Williams box trailer up to 3500kg. For manoeuvring the trailer, I use a fair bit of full lock. I drive mainly in northern Scotland - mix of wet (west coast) and snow & wet (east coast)!
There's been plenty of discussion on here, but I'm still unclear as to likely issues........
1) From what I can see, the slightly lower offset (41.5mm vs 53mm) is unlikely to be an issue
2) There seem to be mixed reports as to clearance / rubbing. Some suggestion that adjusting the ride height will help. Has anyone got real life experience?
3) No comments about rear wheel clearance - but I presume there is a maximum diameter difference front to back to avoid overworking the centre diff? So probably imprudent to run with different size tyres front & back?
4) Assuming I need to change tyres, I'm dithering between Winter (? Continental WinterContact TS870P) & All Season (? Continental All Season Contact or Hankook Kinergy 4S2).
Any thoughts on 1, 2, 3 or 4 gratefully received! Disco 4 65 Landmark
