Is there any way to modify the way that bluetooth connects to delay it seizing the phone until the ignition has been switched on? If I unlock the car and then try and use the phone while loading the boot, the phone of course is connected to the car and ...

Yes ..quite easy . You could exchange the wake up wire on the module for one from an ignition source (rear aux socket is one ) . However ...you would not be able to use the radio ..well get any sound anyway ..untill you turned the ignition on . G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
